~3.5 stars~I've read all the stories about the West Brothers and I couldn't wait to see what life (and love) had in store for their sister. Considering the prologue I expected a lot of fun and there was a lot of that too but on the whole, it was a bit different than I expected. There were a lot of things happening in this book and sometimes I even felt a bit overwhelmed by it. At every turn, there was something else happening, very often something potentially life-altering and intense and I tried to keep up with it.Evan and Sylvie had their issues and their personal histories to overcome and sometimes that backfired. A lot. Add some meddling siblings and cousins, a whole string of unexpected events and twists and turns and sometimes I felt as if I had loved to get to know our hero and our heroine a bit better instead of rushing with them from place to place.Don't get me wrong, Evan was sweet and kind and I loved how he cared for Sylvie but it was a bit hard to learn more about him, especially as it was not really palpable what changed him and made him give up his womanizing ways. Sylvie on the other hand, well, she kept him on his toes and made him work for it. She wasn't someone who simply fell for him just because he decided that he wanted to spend his life with her even though she felt a lot for him either.While everything that is happening and keeping them running around makes it a bit hard to really connect, to feel with the characters (you will still need tissues, trust me), you just have to envy them their family and the way those people stick together and are there for each other - even if their meddling can drive you crazy. Or result in a trip to the hospital...
I absolutely loved the hilarious prologue which was already at the end of the last West Brothers Book. So, I was really excited to finally read this story but it felt different than I expected, partly because it was not the fun and lighthearted book that I thought it would be. The story had a fast pace with Evan being hell bent on making Sylvie his, and since he was actually a womanizer I was slightly irritated how fast he changed his mind and only wanted her now. But I adored his sweet side and liked that he didn’t show off his wealth at first. Although it was a bit strange how Sylvie talked about it a lot later on but I guess that's normal when you are new to all that wealth. It felt very fairytale-like with all the things they did because of his finances and I'm personally not a fan of millionaires/billionaires in books anymore so this is obviously a question of personal taste.Sylvie was a fun character. She wasn’t shy and didn’t care what others thought of her. I really envied her for her attitude and I liked that she didn't instantly give in to his advances at the beginning of the book.Evan had a tough nut to crack with Sylvie, but they both had their hearts broken in past relationships so it was understandable for them to be cautious. His charm though won her over pretty quickly and it didn't take long for them to realize that they had found their other half's in each other. But were they strong enough to withstand the whirlwind of events that followed?While I did like this story in general and really loved the family cohesion, it all just moved too fast for my liking which is also why I couldn't connect with the characters and their story as much as I would have liked. Let's see what the next book will bring.
Well Ms. Hargrove has done it again. She gave us an AMAZING book that I didn’t want to put down.One Indecent Night started out as a fun and easy read, but I should’ve known better, after reading all her other books, just when you are comfortable, she knocks you with an emotional punch. I think I spent the last 1/4 of the book in tears. Some happy and some sad. But in the end I had a overwhelming feeling of happiness and contentment.I loved the West Brothers, who we met in From Ashes to Flames, From Ice to Flames and From Smoke to Flames. The West Brothers Series. Now we get the West Sisters Series. This is a complete standalone series and will follow the girl cousins of the West Brothers. I don’t believe that the West Brothers series has to be read to enjoy this book, but let me tell you if you do read this book, you WILL WANT to go back and read about the West Brothers. I dare you not to fall in love with all the West characters.One Indecent Night is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV. I thought the storyline was fantastic and was thoroughly enjoyable. I laughed while reading this story, but I also cried. This book will hit all of your emotions. The pace and flow of this story was spot on. I didn’t want it to end. I will say I loved the epilogue and how Ms. Hargrove set up the story of the next book in this series.In this story we follow Sylvie and Evan. We met them at the end (epilogue) of From Smoke to Flames. They are attending the wedding of a West Brother. This book starts off right where that epilogue ended. It is one crazy night between Evan and Sylvie. What we get after that is the story of their journey to a HEA. There are some ups and downs, but it was great to see them get through them together. I loved the banter between Evan and Sylvie. Sylvie was a riot. She had me cracking up a lot. I thought these characters truly complimented each other. They are truly a match made in heaven!!! If you are a romance fanatic, you are going to fall in love with Evan. He was simply AMAZING!!!I loved catching up with the West Brothers and their wives. But I also loved getting to know the West Sisters. I look forward to reading more about Piper and then Reynolds.I would 100% recommend this book to all A.M. Hargrove fans and romance readers out there. I think this West Sisters are going to give the West Brothers a run for their money for the number one spot in my heart. This was a great start to this spin off series. Make sure to add it to your TBR list ASAP!!!!
Evan and Sylvie light it up from the first pages of this clever, soulful, deeply moving yet sizzling rom com. This spin off from the West Brothers collection feels new to me. Like Hargrove has invented something we haven’t seen in contemporary romance. I don’t want to spoil anything—it's that damn good—by labelling it. Whatever it is, she better write more. OIN is exactly what I need in a modern contemporary adult romance, that I didn't know I wanted.This is a swoony-sexy romantic comedy that doesn’t waste any time. The set piece around the wedding night is perfect. Sylvie is a firecracker and Evan is one lucky man. There is some off-limits drama to flesh out, but that’s okay, I loved catching up with West family members from other books, who are doing so well now.I was parts laughing out loud and fanning myself as I read, unable to put their love story down. One Indecent Night stars Evan, a dashing, in control, sweet laser-focused hedge fund manager (a running gag over his career is a great inside joke), with a thing for his BFF’s cousin. But that doesn’t stop him. I LOVE that this story took off like a rocket. And that spitfire Sylvia, a dedicated therapist with a penchant for kink and a compassionate soul.Hargrove has a way with romance world-building that keeps the plot stakes high but the romance and feelings even higher and it all fees so deep and so real. Prepare yourself, you won’t get any sleep.One Indecent Night reads like a breath of fresh air, and I can’t wait to see what Hargrove delivers next.
I’m a true lover of the West family and when I heard we were getting the girls of the West family stories I was giddy with joy!! And what a way to kick off this series than with Sylvie and Evan! They had a fabulous time at Pearson and Rose’s wedding, at least from what Sylvie can remember anyway, and Evan isn’t about let this girl get away no matter what he has to do to convince her they’re meant to be!I absolutely love, love, love Evan Thomas. He’s an Alpha but in a very classy way if that’s possible. He’s sexy, rich, doesn’t let anyone or anything stop him from getting what he wants and in this case Sylvie is the woman for him. Poor Syl doesn’t know what to do with herself because while she’s very attracted to him, he’s her cousin’s best friend and doesn’t want that relationship to be affected if they don’t workout.These two are so perfect for each other. I think they balance each other…. Evan is a man that has worked hard for his wealth and Sylvie is a counselor at Flower Power, and I love how she doesn’t want his riches, she wants him as a man that can love her for who she is and not change her. There were times in this book that I was chuckling out loud one minute and the next I’d be fanning myself because these two know how to have some hot and sexy times…thanks to Syl’s romance novels for one!There’re also some moments in this book that I truly wasn’t expecting and it made me tear up and I so related with some of what was going on. It showed the strength of not only Evan and Sylvie but their families as well.Overall, this first book in the West Sisters series delivered big time and I’m so excited to see what Ms. Hargrove has in store for Piper. I know for a fact that I’ll be first in line to have that beauty on my kindle and shelf because I NEED all her words with me all the time!!
I have not once been disappointed by this amazing author A.M Hargrove!! If you have not read any of her books I recommend that you do. Sylvia and Evan are adorable right along with the rest the f the West clan . They will keep you laughing even when you want to cry! I loved it and can’t wait for Piper’s story. As always thank you A.M Hargrove for another amazing read!!!!!
What a fun read that packed in the romantic comedy that left me laughing out loud and then suddenly threw my emotions into a loop. I loved the banter, steam and just their story. This truly left me with a full heart once again.
